The Electric Sunshine Project (TESP)
Description
The Old Electric has been the home for The Electric Sunshine Project since August 2020.
We offer a regular programme of workshops, events, projects and shows and are a new meeting place for communities.
We aim to reduce barriers for children, families and adults in Blackpool connecting with their own creativity.
Established in 2016, TESP was formed to offer regular and accessible events, projects and courses for adults, young people and children and to work in partnership with other organisations and service-providers to develop arts-based projects which can achieve positive social, educational, health and well-being outcomes for targeted communities.
With profits being reinvested into the local community, we are the only socially engaged theatre who use the arts as a transformative process to positively change the town.
The Old Electric (formerly Club Sanuk) is located at 23 Springfield Rd (opposite The Metropole) is fully DDA compliant and consists of the following spaces:
- The Mezz - including an administration hub with shared desk space for organisations, storage, a bookable meeting space and intimate workshop/scratch space
- The Theatre - a large 200 seater amphitheatre style performance and workshop space
- The Gallery - linked to the theatre; cafe/workshop space
