South Shore Academy

South Shore Academy is an 11-16 Secondary School with approximately 900 students on roll. It became a Sports College in 2004 and in 2007 English was identified as the second specialism.   In 2010 Palatine gained Trust status, enabling the school to formalise partnerships with 7 organisations. The Trust arrangement has been hugely beneficial to the school and it has co-incided with rapid rates of improvement in  academic attainment at the school.   Indeed such has been the meteoric rise in standards that the school was nominated as the Most Improved School nationally in 2010.T

South Shore Academy is at the forefront of many exciting initiatives and is gaining national recognition for the innovative approach taken. Any initiatives are always taken with our students as our priority, we are an inclusive and child-centred school.

We are passionate about developing the school as the ‘hub of the local community’, this is supported by the South Shore Campus which now includes a Leisure Centre, Tennis Courts, Cycle Track, Municipal Library, Children’s Centre and The Oracle - a state of the art facilty for young people.  All of these facilities are used by the school.

Things are changing rapidly at South Shore Academy, our students only have one chance.  We have high expectations of all students, but equally we will support them attain these aspirations.
