The service uses an integrated model of care based upon the assessment and formulation but led by the clients individual goals. The service aims to exclude and diagnose coexisting physiological conditions making referrals accordingly for treatment and management and introduces preventative self care into the therapeutic framework.
Additionally we work with the client/clients to manage sex and intimacy more creatively and realistically within any confines presented by their physical and or mental health issues. We also work with couples to support their intimacy during terminal illness and toward end of life. The service aims to support and enhance knowledge, skills and understanding of sexual issues by providing training and support to colleagues and partner agencies.
Referrals accepted by post or email from primary, secondary health professionals but also any partner agencies. A referral proforma will be forwarded as requested from the service but referral in letter format is acceptable. To avoid compromisation of the referred client we required care and due consideration of their preferred contact details and information re additional needs/requirements. Also we require that and any risk for either the client or therapist is highlighted.
