Description

Blackpool is the first town in England to increase the number of home visits that every family receives from their Health Visitor from the statutory five to a minimum of eight.

  • Blackpool families will first be seen by their Health Visitor from around 28 weeks of pregnancy.
  • The next visit takes place anytime up to 14 days after birth, followed by a 3-5 week home visit.
  • After that visits are at 6-8 weeks, 3-4 months and 9-12 months.
  • The final two visits are a 2-2.5 year developmental review and a 3-3.5 year school readiness review.

The visits include new assessments which support early identification of potential issues and pathways. The team can support families to receive extra help by offering further support themselves or referring to partner agencies.
