Description

Empowerment is a local charity based on Bispham Road. We provide a number of services for residents of Blackpool.

We offer advocacy services via the Blackpool Advocacy Hub. This is for anyone who has a health and social care need and feels their voice isn't being heard. This could be problems speaking to your GP, accessing a social worker or support during health or social care meetings. We are also able to assist any Blackpool resident who would like to make a complaint against a NHS service. We also offer advocacy support for people who are patients at the Harbour Hospital.

We also offer a Children's Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (CIDVA) service for any child in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre who has witnessed domestic abuse. We support the child to help keep themselves safe, make sense of their feelings and to understand their rights and make sure their voice is heard.

We also run projects

  • EmpowerHER - in partnership with The Boathouse Youth
  • Share Shed - helping young men in Blackpool to connect with each other
  • Volunteers - Brew and chat
  • Lived Experience Team - first hand experience of the challenges of homelessness, mental health, domestic abuse, Criminal Justice system and substance misuse
