Fylde Sharks Disability Swimming Club - Kirkham
Fylde Sharks children's disability swimming club uniquely offers one to one swimming lessons to disabled children and young people up to 18 years old in the Fylde area with varying degrees of disaility.
Children with complex physical disabilities to those with social, cognitive and behavioural needs can enjoy swimming lessons with a qualified swimming teacher which provides mental stimulation and improved physical mobility.
Our Objective Is:
To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation, in particular but not exclusively, by the provision of facilities for swimming for disabled young people up to the age of 18 in the Borough of Fylde and the surrounding areas in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life.
- to help develop the social skills of children and young people with disabilities, to enhance their ability to interact and communicate with their peers, improve their confidence and reduce social isolation by bringing together disabled young people and their families in and out of the swimming sessions
- to maximise the potential of disabled children and young people by being able to access swimming
- to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the Fylde area
Fylde Sharks Disability Swimming Club one to one swimming lessons are held at:
St Annes YMCA Swimming Pool on a Saturday 3:30pm-5:30pm, and at
Kirkham Rural Splash YMCA Swimming Pool on a Sunday 3:30pm-5:30pm
Members admission: £5 per child, per session.
