Whitegate Health Centre

The Whitegate Health Centre building, which has been designed to be fully accessible, has a wide range of innovative features.
All the taps in clinical areas are operated by infra-red sensors, which means that medical staff do not have to touch the taps and helps to prevent infections.
Departments are colour coded and each have their own symbol, such as leaves and shells, to help patients to find their way around the building.

The centre has been fitted with a range of hi-tech diagnostic tools, including one of only a few MRI scanners in a primary care centre in the country, as well as ultrasound suites and a state-of-the-art X-ray facility which delivers a detailed image within ten seconds. This makes it much easier for services to work together within the centre.
Whitegate Health Centre also features an extensive dental facility, which includes a special chair that allows patients in wheelchairs to have their teeth examined without needing to get out of their wheelchair.
Dentistry students from the University of Central Lancashire will complete their practical training in the specially designed dental education centre, and it is hoped that many of them will stay on to work in Blackpool after finishing their degrees.
