DESMOND Type 2 Diabetes Education
DESMOND stands for Diabetes Education and self management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed
These free education sessions provide a way to find out more about type 2 diabetes in a relaxed informal environment . It is a resource to help participants manage the changes diabetes will bring to thier lives. Participants can share experiences with others. It helps the person become the expert.
The session provides fun interactive group activities, advice on food choices, food labels, physical activity, managing blood glucose, glycaemia and insulin resistance. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions. The educators are there to help and increase knowledge and understanding of what having Type 2 diabetes means. Participant's can bring along a family member, carer or friend. DESMOND Education sessions are delivered in a variety of venues across the Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde localities.

Referrals are accepted by any Healthcare professional or patients can self refer.
