Lancashire Young Carers

Barnardo’s are commissioned by Lancashire County Council and East Lancashire Commissioning Group to offer Young Carers Assessments and to deliver support to young carers aged up to 18 across Lancashire, however we are unable to work with young carers within the two unitary authorities of Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Borough Councils

Every Young Carer has a right to an assessment, which takes into account the level of caring role and the impact this has on their daily life.

A Project Worker will complete an assessment with the young carer with input from family members where appropriate. The assessment will help to identify areas of need and support, once assessed, the young carer will have a named worker who will be there to support them and provide information and advice.

A support plan will be developed with the young carer and their family and will outline what is needed to support the whole family and reduce the impact of caring on the young carer.

This can be one to one support, group work, signposting to other services, advocacy and support at meetings.
