Advisory Teachers and Inclusion Practitioners

Advisory Teachers and Inclusion Practitioners are part of the Early Years SEND team.

Early Years SEND provide advice and guidance to Early Years providers, such as nurseries and child minders to help them provide appropriate learning opportunities for children who have been identified as needing extra support.

When settings request the Early Years SEND team’s an initial visit is made to the setting. This is followed by a Team Around the Child (TAC) meeting with parents /carers to discuss the level of support that may be needed to help the child to progress with regard to their learning and development. This may include strategies, interventions and resources.

Where additional support or training is needed one of our Early Years Inclusion Practitioners (EYIPs) may also go in to a setting to model strategies and support staff.

The team works in partnership with other professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Educational Psychologists, Health Visitors and Paediatricians.

During meetings any future support your child may need will be discussed; this might include support when they move onto school. Where a child will need additional support, a Person Centred Planning (PCP) meeting may be organised (please see our leaflet on PCP meetings - click here). For some children, this process may lead to submitting a request for statutory assessment
