Julie Machin's setting

I have been a registered childminder for over 30 years and hold an NVQ 3 qualification in Childcare. I am situated in a pleasant location close to Stanley Park and also close to the M55 motorway. I am a proud mother of five grown up sons and five grandchildren.
My setting has a clean, safe, warm friendly atmosphere where it is obvious that the children are well cared for in a family atmosphere. Before Covid I attended local children centres which offer drama, music, messy playlots of other activities to give the children lots of stimulation. We also meet with the rangers weekly where we have access to lots of outdoor activities like a forest school. I meet up with other childminders where the children all play and eat together, enjoying activities allowing them to experience being in a larger group, still receiving the3 to 1 ratio. At the moment this is on hold until safe to resume.
UPDATE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS:
Whilst we are having a pandemic I am only allowed to offer outdoor outings like parks, zoo etc which are available at the moment due to coronavirus so I can keep a safe distance from the public and protect the children in my care.
My own setting boasts, a spacious well equipped house and a garden where we enjoy den building, stepping stones, growing our own fruit and vegetables, making hedgehog and bug homes, wormery etc. There are still plenty of enjoyable activities on offer whilst we are experiencing Covid. Hand gel is available at all times on outings and regular handwashing is encouraged whilst indoors
Healthy meals and snacks are included in my fees along with the zoo passes. I complete the 2year check for the health visitor and parents along with the Pre-school profile for when your child starts school. I also share a progress book with you. recording your child's achievements which you will take away once your child leaves my setting.
Please feel free to visit my setting once things get back to normal. Until we are out of lockdown, I am only able to offer a virtual tour, photos and phone or text messages. References can be obtained from current parents plus I will give you a copy of my latest Ofsted report.

- How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?
I monitor the children in my care by using my experience from the past 42 years of looking after children and using tracking charts and what to expect when. I also gain as much information as possible when child starts my setting. I share and liaison with parents face to face and phone calls or whatts app
- How will the curriculum be matched to my child's/young person's needs?
I am the sole carer of your child so I will be the person to identify any additional needs from all my years of experience identified. I will discuss with you and request to gain permission for me to arrange the correct and appropriate help should I feel this is neccessary
- How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?
I will share with you your child's progress and discuss and identify any issues. I complete a two year progress report for you to share with your HV just after your child has reached their second birthday. I also complete another report before your child attends reception year which will be handed to your child's school once you have read and agreed same
- What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall well being?
You can speak at the front door face to face at a safe distance and once safe to do so will be invited into setting. I will update you by sharing daily photos and comments throughout the day on how your child is doing and what they enjoy plus when we are visiting parks etc. I will share with you your child's progress by discussion and sharing tracking progress.
- What specialist services and expertise are avaliable at or accessed by the setting/school/college?
Medicine is given with correct written permission and will only be administered if I have seen medicine prescribed to child in question. Policy is provided explaining this. SEND policy is also available for you to read and take away. Personal care is given to your child by myself in the room I am minding your child with just myself and minded children present unless your child is toilet trained where they will have privacy with my help of downstairs toilet and sink especially for my setting. If on outings appropriate changing rooms will be used taking hygiene and personal care into consideration. Policy for personal care will be offered before your child starts my setting. Your child's views are important to me and I will always ask for their views or ask parents/carers if child is not yet able to let me know by voice or gestures
- What training have the staff supporting children and young people with SEND had? Are any being trained currently?
I have had regular training and has been updated over the years when required for me to update this
- How will my child/young person be included in activities outside this classroom including school trips?
All relevant information will be discussed with parents/carers and put into place appropriately depending on the level of disability with a risk assessment in place for activity
- How accessible is the setting/school/college enviroment?
As above. Activities will be planned to include the child with disability so nobody is left out
- How are the setting's/school's/college's resources allocated and matched to children's/young people's special educational needs?
No I do not have a toilet with these resources but I do have access for a wheelchair. My toilet would not fit a wheelchair in
- How is the decision made about what type and how much support my child/young person will receive?
This will be discussed before your child starts to see what support we need to put into place. Other agencies may be involved to help give your child the best outcome. This will be discussed on your visit as permission has to be gained from yourselves before any action taken
- How are parents involved in the setting/school/college? How can I be involved?
Both parents/carers will be involved with your child's achievements and progress and I will always liaison with you and be available by arrangement to discuss any decisions made together. Other agencies may be involved to help your child progress to the best of their ability again with your permission
