Diabetes UK in the Blackpool Area
We are the UK's leading diabetes charity. We are a growing community with over 300,000 supporters nationwide including people with diabetes, their friends and families.
We work with an army of 5,000 volunteers and 332 voluntary groups to raise funds and awareness, to provide support and to campaign for change. In 2011, our voluntary groups ran more than 1,000 events enabling us to reach people with diabetes in local communities across the UK. We have a professional membership of more than 6,000 healthcare professionals from a variety of clinical settings in 2011, over 3,000 delegates attended our Diabetes Professional Conference, the UKs leading professional forum for exchanging ideas and sharing information. We are experts in the field of diabetes care, treatment and research we use our expertise to compile the evidence base for policies that help all of those affected by diabetes and inform our campaigns for better services.
We influence governments, opinion formers, health services and healthcare professionals to ensure that people with diabetes get the standards of care that they deserve and that the wider public is aware of how to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
