Young Empowerment Forum
Do you want your voice to be heard? Do you want to help us make decisions? Join us!
If you’re aged 13-25 and have a special educational need and/or disability, you can join our group, Young Empowerment Forum, to make positive changes to services in Blackpool.
The Young Empowerment Forum meet twice a school term and sometimes get together for special projects in between. Some of the things the group do regularly are: Choosing new staff – When we recruit new staff for the SEND services at Blackpool Council, the Young Empowerment Forum get involved in the interviews. They create and ask their own questions and help us to choose who will work for our services. Creating resources and campaigns – The group create new materials for the SEND services and staff, like easy-read strategies and our ‘Top Tips to Involve Us’ cards. Decision making – When decisions are being made about how to run or change a service for children and young people with SEND, the Young Empowerment Forum has the chance to be involved and take part in meetings and discussions and put across their opinions and ideas. If you’re interested in joining the forum please get in touch.
